Rustic Tarts - Sweet & Savory
Featuring classic tarts that originated in France, learn the steps on how to create a beautiful pastry.
In this hands on class you will receive a demonstration on three types of tarts and how to create different components. Then you will craft your own to take home.
The sweet golden apple Tarte Tatin is an upside down tart that is slow cooked in butter and sugar until it becomes caramelized. A sandy short bread crust called Sable Breton from the Brittany region of France gives the tart a buttery finish.
Pâte feuilletée or more commonly known as puff pastry is a light and delicate laminated dough and when topped with savory fillings and cheeses it can be a very versatile treat.
A galette is the most rustic of the tarts and can be made with any type of seasonal fruit and the crust is flaky and buttery. It is hand shaped with a folded edge and baked.
